The old guys doing fine - Ozzie almost 13yrs and his son Howzat in Newzealand 12yrs. So nice to see how well and much loved they are in their older age.
A visit to Eurodog 2019 in Austria was very exciting. It gives one a different perspective on dog showing! There were approximately 20,000 dogs entered over 3 days in big indoor halls, it was extremely crowded and busy.
There were 54 black standards entered, and it was very interesting to compare where the breed has moved since the visit to Helsinki World Dog Show. One has to be very critical in assessing the dogs, as they are all so well groomed and looking their best - yet it is quite small conformation points that make a difference in whether a dog is correct and should be used to breed with.
The poor judge had to work under new rules, which meant that he only got 1 minute to assess each dog - not enough time!! - but despite the rush the judge got his choices right in my opinion. There was lots to learn, especially as I got to discuss the dogs with the breeder of Ozzie's sire who was World Winner in the past, and we were able to bounce opinions off each other.
Grand Calvera Kennel again did very well - taking out European Junior Winner 2019 with Yorick Black Grand Calvera. Unfortunately my photos did not turn out - it was just too crowded!
I am happy that by seeing so many dogs again I have confirmed the picture of what I want Klabauter dogs to look like - having that mental image of the "ideal" dog to aim for is one of the main tools one needs as a breeder I think!

Seems quite a few Klabauters meet up with their Schnauzer friends at Mona Vale regularly now. Must be good fun, and looks like lots of sand to clean off after that !
Oddie got a better offer and has decided to retire. Ernie and Eric's family asked if she could come and live with them which was really really lucky. Lots of running in the new household (with the humans!!), so that will be good fun. We had to have a little cry when she left but we know she will have a wonderful home.....thanks guys !
We just learnt that we have 2 litters coming, so unfortunately had to cancel our plans to exhibit at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.... not enough time and so much left to do to get the brand new puppy facilities ready.

What a great job grooming this boy from the X Litter in Broome is getting - his coat looks terrific - whilst he lives in a place with lots of red sand, dust and burrs and goes to beach a lot! Well done.
Hi, I wanted to let you know and update you on one of your incredible dogs from the J litter. Her name is Charlie and she is a marvellous dog. She has been incredibly healthy, social, friendly, intelligent and gentle. Although she was our first ‘baby’ we have had two of our own boys (4 & 2) and she has been unbelievably wonderful with them from babies to toddlers and they adore her. Thank you so much again (I know it’s been 7 years) for blessing us with her. Warm regards, ....
After finally having moved house it will be time to do some matings again. We are trying Oddie (Klabauter Odyssey to Oz) with young Wizard from the W litter by Absolute Winner Dakuerto (CZ). Smartie (Klabauter Smart in Black (AI) by Djarfur Noir vom Schwarzen Opal will also be mated, she will go to Ozzie - Born to Oz Grand Calvera (imp CZ).

Hi Julia I hope you are well. I realise I have been very remiss in sending photos is Powerpack aka Peggy as named by my son. She is doing great and is the regular mascot for most of my son's sporting teams! She also loves running each day, she is doing 1-2hrs outdoors a day and loving it. But despite this still behaves a bit like a puppy as always so happy to see anyone! Thanks
A happy re-homing exercise for Prince Helmut who moved from Perth to Sydney's Northern Beaches and met Tea there.
We had the most beautiful day on the Insel Mainau in Lake Constance with Djarfur Noir vom Schwarzen Opal and his delightful owner Gabi. The dog was so good all day with my two children leading him around, what a super animal, and lucky no one caught us when we all went walking in the castle fountain as it was so hot :-) We all wanted to take Djarfur home! We are very lucky to have been able to use him as a sire.. Smartie and Stryker and their babies have the best possible start :-)

The sale pups from the V and W litters have left, so things are a bit quieter now, and we are going to take a little break from showing and breeding. We'll try for puppies again sometime next year, but in the meantime other priorities in life make things too busy to attend dogshows. It was nice to catch our breaths playing with the puppies on a sunny Sunday afternoon....
Just back from ultrasounds and we have 2 pregnant girls.

Expecting 2 litters in late April :-) More can be revealed after the ultrasounds in 4 weeks..... Now we had the ultrasounds and sadly only one of the girls is pregnant with only few puppies. Hoping for girls........

The S Litter is by super multi champion German Sire Djarfur-Noir vom Schwarzen Opal and out of Aust Ch Klabauter Kenya (AI). Nine beautiful puppies. Very very exciting times to finally succeed with this frozen semen mating!
We have relocated to Albion Park in the Illawarra. We will of course continue to place puppies in Qld - pickup at the airport....
2014
Qiasu from the Q Litter leaves for Singapore today. She has a black labrador puppy friend on the same flight.
A month later we hear that Qiasu has settled in well and her new family is very happy with her! Good news.
The R Litter is here! Sired by Aust Ch Klabauter Orbit around Oz, out of Aust Ch Klabauter Made in Oz. Maddie delivered the puppies within 2 hours - what a champion!
We are relieved to have received NEGATIVE DCM testing results for Aust Ch Klabauter Kenya (AI), Aust Ch Klabauter Made in Oz and Aust Ch Klabauter Odyssey to Oz. Great news. Both girls from the Q litter, and Aust Ch Klabauter Orbit around Oz are also negative! See the health page for more information.
Aust Ch Klabauter Odyssey to Oz had 2 female puppies by frozen semen from Mr Shriek Grand Calvera. This is the Q Litter, they are developing nicely and we will keep one. Might be hard to come up with a name :-)
Ozzie's half sister is World Winner 2014 - exciting for us to witness!!
